Critics are skeptical about whether the new rules by the Railroad Commission will prevent another catastrophe like the power grid disaster in February 2021.

on the Texas freeze released in late 2021 found that 31.4% of unplanned generation outages were due to fuel issues — and 87% of those fuel issues were related to natural gas.

It’s unclear from the new rules what action the attorney general can take against companies beyond fines.the commission adopted Tuesday, the new rules apply only to gas supply chain facility operators and gas pipeline facility operators that are included in a supply chain map the agency created this year to chart the state’s energy infrastructure, as mandated by lawmakers during the 2021 legislative session.

in the November election, slammed Christian and the Railroad Commission. The new rule “is beyond inadequate, failing to provide the accountability Texans deserve,” Warford told the board. “How can we possibly trust that this rule is going to keep us safe now?” Christian, who attended Tuesday’s meeting virtually because he said he tested positive for COVID-19, has mostly focused his reelection campaign on the state’s massive oil and gas sector’s importance to Texas and criticizing the Biden administration’s moves related to the industry.

One million dollars That can easily be incorporated into any business plan.

I’ve never seen what the effective date of the rules are

And watch pitiful GregAbbott_TX try to take credit for this, too.

Threats with Abbott in power mean NOTHING to them. They line the back pockets of those that would fine them, so they are not worried. If change happens, then a fine would only jack up prices to consumers, the fat cats protect their money

Up to $1 million if they don’t comply and directly cause hundreds of deaths? And the money would come from us because they’d jack up prices due to “market forces”? This is just corruption. AbbottFailsTexasEveryday RepublicansAreTheProblem VoteBlueToSaveAmerica VoteBlueIn2022

but how many millions does it cost to prepare for extreme weather? It's cheaper to break the law. They will continue to do so as long as it is cheaper. no real consequences.

That oughta show ‘em by gosh! gtfoh

That's like fining the average person a dime.

Is GovAbbott shouldering any of the blame?

Yeah, I'm skeptical. Seeing as how this is an election year repubs are faking like they're on top of things but it's all a smokescreen and we should not fall for it.
