NEW DELHI :India's federal financial crime-fighting agency said on Saturday it was searching the premises of online payment companies as part of an investigation of Chinese-controlled firms and individuals suspected of illicit lending practices.

"The premises of Razorpay Pvt Ltd, Cashfree Payments, Paytm Payment Services Ltd and entities controlled or operated by Chinese persons are covered in the search operation," it said. Chinese controlled entities are suspected of involvement in crime and the persons are accused of forging documents of Indian citizens to make them directors of companies generating criminal proceeds, the Directorate said.
