Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd says American tech company Twilio’s communication with their employees “might need some work”.

“Chief executive Jeff Lawson told his staff that 11 per cent would need to be laid off … headcount has apparently grown too fast – as of December, it had about 7,800 employees,” he said.

Mr Lawson said: “layoffs like this can have a more pronounced impact on marginalised communities so we were particularly focused on ensuring our layoffs – while a business necessity today, were carried out through an anti-racist, anti-oppression lens”.“But we are assuming it means people of certain ethnicities were targeted in the layoffs.”
