Patriots’ QB Mac Jones has what doctors diagnosed as a severe high ankle sprain that would cause many to have surgery, per sources. He is likely to miss multiple games. Jones and the Patriots still are discussing his options and the best way to proceed. The Patriots' next four games are against the Green Bay Packers on the road, the Detroit Lions at home, the Cleveland Browns on the road and the Chicago Bears at home. Aside from the Packers matchup, the rest are pretty winnable games.
But how much confidence should the Patriots have in backup Brian Hoyer and rookie Bailey Zappe -- the two healthy quarterbacks currently on the 53-man roster. Hoyer has lost his last 11 starts. Zappe threw an interception in each of New England's three preseason games in August and has zero regular season experience.
Nick nickgossnbcsb, u had list of QBs to help. Cam Newton is on list. Ahead of it, u dig, nobody on list is desirable😮 & said, u put it mildly.😳Cam was QB 1 for Patriots, won 7-8, 66% complete, 3300 total yds, & 21 total tds. Cam did ok, 1st yr & little help. StopDisrespect
We have backups for a reason.
