Jaxport closes, airport open but watchful as Hurricane Ian approaches

As Hurricane Ian begins to make landfall on the west coast of Florida as a Category 4 Hurricane, Jacksonville's airport and port authorities' are preparing for sustained winds as the storm moves northeast.

Jaxport was the first to halt operations Wednesday when it entered Port Condition Zulu at noon, while the airport remains open but with a watchful eye toward the wind. Beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, tenants began restricting cargo deliveries and inbound truck traffic to essential traffic only, before changing the Port Condition from Yankee to Zulu this afternoon.tropical or hurricane force storm are predicted to make landfall at the port within 12 hours.
