More travel to Asia spells good news for the Bay Area, including united and flySFO

SFO’s current two weekly flights to Hong Kong is in sharp contrast to the San Francisco airport’s 42 weekly flights to Hong Kong pre-pandemic.As for United , SFO’s dominant carrier, the airline said, “For Hong Kong, we’re currently evaluating the market demand and operating environment and expect to resume service in 2023.

In September, United flew daily nonstops from SFO to both Tokyo-Narita and Tokyo-Haneda airports. The carrier is likely to increase service to Japan as Covid travel restrictions are cut, but United is tight-lipped on its plans.
