One of South Africa's largest sunflower seed crusher groups has been left perplexed following the theft of three of its trucks loaded with substantial quantities of 2L Sunfoil Sunflower Oil from a warehouse in Kempton Park last night

According to the Competition Commission, between January and June 2022, the producer price of cooking oil increased from R506.67 to R873.33 per 20 litres, a 72% price jump during the first half of the year. Prices have been largely influenced by the ongoing conflict in eastern Europe, rising input costs and producers chasing wider margins.

"Members of the public are requested not to purchase any of the stolen stock. The batch codes of the stolen items are known to the police and security partners, who are currently trying to locate the stock. The reward for any information leading to the successful recovery of the stolen Sunfoil Sunflower Oil and the arrest of any perpetrators remains unchanged at R100 000."In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
