Cheap electric cars are selling fast but the end of subsidies could end the sales boom.

And this is largely driven by government mandates and incentives, says Mr Hsieh. For more than a decade, the Chinese government has subsidised EV purchases. The value of these subsidies has fallen over time, and they are due to end by 2023, but there are still plenty of reasons why buying an electric car is a financial no-brainer.

Then there is the potentially irresistible price tag of some vehicles. The Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV bucks the trend of EVs being a relatively expensive option.Affordable electric cars like this Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV have helped boost the Chinese market And manufacturers are filling higher-end EVs with infotainment systems and other gadgetry in a further attempt to woo consumers. But two big questions hover over the frenzy for electric cars in China. Firstly, will it last? And secondly, how will it shape the global EV market?

I would buy one of these today if available in the UK, if only to used around town ( which is 90% of my usage) EV

We must try to avoid buying ANYTHING from China. It’s not easy.

There will not be a day when we don’t have fuel cars… electric cars are hyped

Electric energy is future of planet so has too

Let’s hope not

I can't wait to see Clarkson trying that out...

No effort for design made there

Iran These Ayatollahs and Mulah’s running their nation in the false rhetoric of Gods name for their own preservation all purposes is just disgusting and vile to see 👎No wonder the citizens there are protesting 👆The world should note this severely & not trust them at all👎

They seen to love new tech over there, same as we do. But they seem far better at infastructure, so yes I do think it will last.

So are their coal plants to keep up with the generation of power to charge them.

Ok, it won't last. So?

BBC News About China: China is ...bad..., and it will get worse; China is ...good..., but it will ...be bad... at last.

take care of your own country now. when will you pay for what you have done to the world for 300 yrs?

I suspect there is a good reason why this boom can't last.We will have little or no electricity. What we do get will be subjected to random power outages &.....cost an absolute fortune to heat a kettle, let alone fuel a car

Why do they make such tiny cars in China . I can imagine a lot of tall tourists having many issues . I'm 6ft4 guy on holiday hiring a car . How do we get in and out these tiny things ? .

Electric cars aren’t green. It’s all a con driven by corporate investment and greed. Hydrogen cars are the greenest. Only they don’t make money for the big companies who have backed the “electric” market. Battery disposal is also a big problem.

The CCP offers heavy subsidies to EV manufacturers. This Subsidy amount per vehicle has been found to be more than manufacturing cost incurred per vehicle. Hence, they don't bother sales as the regime wrongly has their back. Another bubble headed to burst!

It will last longer than the British electric car market with way better quality at a more affordable price with longer warranty 😉 How's Brexit going war mongers ?

lok at dat ting
