Karen Sorensen, senator for Alberta and former Banff mayor, announced $8 million in federal funding to start consultation on a Banff Avenue restoration project.Parks Canada senior vice-president of operations Andrew Campbell said the first step in the process will involve engagement and consultation with Indigenous communities in the region, followed by online engagement until June.
“Because we don’t have a lot of preconceived notions of exactly what will be here and what the redevelopment will look like, we are really not trying to push the envelope with time,” he said, adding it’s also hard to determine overall cost or budget given the early nature of the planning.Article content
