PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has no shortage of human talent in the rail industry, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister, however, said this needed to be bolstered to keep up with the country's growing railway industry and need for more professionals and researchers.

"Since its inaugural edition in 2018, SRIE has been a leading platform to spark research and development between educational institutions and rail industry players to fortify railway development across this region,” said Dr Wee. Dr Wee said that these networks include the East Coast Rail Link , Klang Valley Double Tracking project , Johor Bahru-Woodlands Rapid Transit System Link, Mass Rapid Transit 3 and light rail transit 3.

"This third edition is a coordinated effort by the Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation , Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and UTAR’s Centre for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering, with the support of Transport Ministry, the Malaysia Rail Development Corporation , the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and the Institute of Materials Malaysia.
