Health department officials say the federal government plans to hire a third-party company to process claims for its new dental-care insurance program.

The procurement department has invited companies with experience in dental-insurance claims to apply for pre-qualification in a process that launched today.

Department officials told The Canadian Press that the process will help the health ministry refine the program before hiring a company to take on the work.
