Online betting companies will have to ditch the tagline 'gamble responsibly' next year under new rules. What are the new taglines and are they enough?

The tagline must be accompanied by the call to action: For free and confidential support call 1800 858 858 or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au

A study led by Central Queensland University researchers found interactive gambling more than doubled in the eight years leading to 2019-20.Gambling Research Australia and CQU ran a study into the impact of consistent gambling messaging across the country last year. Trigger warnings make me want to self harm. Can I get a warning before trigger warnings so that I can avoid the trigger warning triggering me.

Why does government play these stupid games of slowly restricting what is clearly an exploitative enterprise instead of doing away with it altogether? It's similar to the slow, painful restrictions placed on smoking. Get rid of it and the moronic ads as well!

By the law of averages all gamblers are losers.

Beggars belief. WIN! WIN! WIN! WIN! WIN! Here's all the $$$$$$ you win! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Here's how easy it is to WIN! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Here are some WINNERS! PS. Gamble responsibly. The government cares and did their bit.

Well it's very true

What are the odds AlboMP won’t be asking for help this time.

Yes but what will be the font size?

Bad advertising altogether

there is a reason you won't hear too much about this on commercial media. from the link: 'According to Nielsen Research, the gambling industry spent $287.2 million on advertising in Australia in 2021, up from $89.7 million in 2011.'

Aussies spend about $17 Bill per year on new clothes. We spend about the same on meat! (to eat) – but this is dropping. We LOSE $27 Billion per year on gambling. That's over $1,100 for every single Aussie. We are the world's gambling basket case.

Gamblers are addicted, like alcohol, cigarettes, they will not take any notice of this blurb, they need professional help, Gamblers Anonymous.

Gambling ads on TV are so prolific. This is a disgrace. The Govt should be banning them.

Drop smoking taxes, they're killing me.

Ban. Gambling. Advertising. Anything else is papering over the cracks. I know you can't do anything about offshore sites, but you damn well can about the AFL/NRL etc and the local news media. Work with social media to ban it there too to Australian audiences.

better still to ban all ads and to tax gambling tax on winning 30% It should kill gambling

The bank always wins

Can't wait for them to brush over these lines in a quarter of a second after a minute of glorifying becoming gambling addicts with your friends instead of actually socialising.

Don't care. I just want all gambling advertisements removed from all media outlets including social media.

Gambling. The sport for losers.
