Legendary Northampton market trader and local hero 'Fitzy' has died. Eamonn Fitzpatrick, 72, nicknamed Fitzy, was a stalwart at Northampton market and passed away after a "very short illness" according to his son.

Fitzy had been trading on the market for 60 years and was well known as the leader of the 'Save the Market' campaign since the council announced its intentions to regenerate the square. "Fitzy was a proud Northamptonian who always wanted the best for the town. He will be greatly missed." At NorthantsLive we're more than just news.
