Elon Musk said Twitter has suffered a massive drop in revenue. He blamed it on activist groups pressuring advertisers.

Twitter Inc. has suffered “a massive drop in revenue” because of advertisers cutting back on using the social-media platform, new owner Elon Musk said Friday as the company started sweeping layoffs just over a week after the billionaire took it over.

Mr. Musk, in a tweet Friday, blamed the cutback in advertising on “activist groups pressuring advertisers.” He said that the company hadn’t changed content moderation and had tried to address activists’ concerns. “Extremely messed up!” he said, casting the move as an assault on free speech.

Agree in part

One year from now, it will be a story to talk about, all on the plus side.

And why are activist groups pressuring them?

I'm willing to give elonmusk a chance. The transition was gonna be rough. People need to have patience. That being said, the rollout has been disorganized. His vision should have been presented more astutely. It kinda feels like he's just throwing shit at a wall.

Incoming bankruptcy?

He will weed out the cry babies, the advertisers will come back, and he'll have new advertisers, and the newly fired can go to work for other woke companies or start their own woke company.

The sacking of staff is a Machiavellian move. Twitter is not publically listed, but a private MAGA-Saudi owned company, they can do whatever. US democracy in danger - just before an election. Reason is not something as cheap as money, but the real power to make kings & kingdoms.

He's not wrong though.

Same thing those activist groups did to Georgia when they made up the Jim Crow voting laws that turned out to be a lie that cost the state million in revenue. Companies need to learn this lesson.

Come on, Elon? The CO's pulling ads know that the dems want this and if they give the dems what they want, they are less likely to get audited, investigated or targeted in some way by the most corrupt party in US history.

The woke are running scared and like a rat trapped in the corner who knows what they are capable of.

Dang it! Who's runnin' this circus anyway?...Oh wait....🤣🤣🤣

And all his trump-loving, right-wing supporters are so quiet right now. Capitalism got your tongue? 🤣

Corporations will slowly see their profits dropping, as there are millions of Conservatives that we know about, and more who don't speak out. It will play itself out. Look at Netflix.

🎶🎶 Three little birds sat on my window And they told me I don't need to worry 🎶🎶

He baited you. Gonna be a good story.

People are voting with their wallets

It will drop even more when you will start charging few dollars for a blue tick... Because Some people who have blue tick knows only free input. 😁😁😁

Twitter users are top influencers, and some companies are being told to act against their interests. Those standing firm with Twitter will benefit from the situation. The polls have shown that Consumers value FreedomOfSpeech, and therefore will stand strong with Twitter.

He ought to look in the mirror to discover the real reason why.

The advertisers will suffer.

And it's very obvious businesses are using huge assets to manipulate. Combining business and politics is bad news when it intends to harm. Everyone should have a seat at the table. Everyone has gifts to contribute.

He can blame his own business decisions, too, perhaps.

It’s only temporary and the stock has not suffered too much.

I would love a list of advertisers that left. If you can’t tolerate free speech then I will spend my money elsewhere.

These companies who are so controlled by the government are slaves to that government.

Only a matter of time before Republicans start demanding that corporations advertise on Twitter or face legal penalties.

That’s true. Jealous, successful people hating woke. Just like they did with politicians and Fossil Fuels - Look where that got the world.

Best way Musk can turn his $44B to pennies that is making Twitter look like truth social

Maybe all the bots can chip in.

So the activists are responsible for the layoffs? Seems reasonable.

elonmusk They can really put another meaning behind your words

Well many of the ads is a scam. If you want revenue from scam ads then make illegal website

Lol isn’t that what free speech, free market capitalism is?

Goodbye elonmusk 🇨🇳🇷🇺 Twitter. Adios.

Or maybe people dislike … your policies.

Well Elon has always loved a challenge, revamping Twitter was the logical next step after Tesla and SpaceX. Interested to see what happens…

So then the MORE reason to have the layoffs. Seems pretty simple from a business perspective. Plus all the money he'll save from the whiners who won't be able to get their free 6 pump Vente Mocha and glass of 'whine' after a hard 4 hour workday

elonmusk should name and blame these freakish nazi activists

Turning it into TruthSocial - which he could have bought for pennies - not a recipe for success.

elonmusk Maybe it's time to revise this policy.
