Twitter Inc has begun laying off employees under its new owner, Elon Musk. The San Francisco-based social media giant on Friday started laying off staff, expected to number up to 3,700 people - half of its workforce, according to internal plans reviewed by Reuters last week. Twitter is already facing a proposed class action claiming the layoffs are imminent and will violate U.S. and California laws if employees are not given advance notice or severance pay.

The breakdown of staff showed that in San Francisco, the bulk of workers laid off, 592 of the 784, were classified as professionals, with 147 first/mid-level officials and managers, the remainder being senior managers, sales workers and administrative support. The breakdown for Santa Monica and San Jose showed a similar profile of workers.

It's the entire industry

No.

No

As Donald J Trump taught us: nothing violates US law

No- he offered double the legal severance. Why don’t you report the facts?

He is only required to give them two months notice. He gave three. and if they violate any of their agreements of employment, he can then fire them for cause. I am just a freaking nobody and 2 minutes on Google yielded this. YOU SUCK!!

Good for Elon Musk! Next I love to see CTV defunded or dismantled permanently.

This is nonsense. People were posting screenshots of their termination letters and they stated the employees would be getting paid out. What kind of research went into this pointless waste of my time?

How many employers do you know that lay off employees but still pay them til February 2023?

No! This man is smarter than that!

I'm wondering if those employees would be better off keeping their mouths shut. Parag Agrawal lied under oath to Congres. I wonder what Elon dirt Elon will find now.

No.

You are so predictable, CTV.

No.

Defund ctv and cbc will defund the propaganda we are feed everyday.

CTV stands for C-controlled T-tele V-Vision

Ah should CTV be worried 😁

Shitting in your pants?

I think Elon is making his own laws now ;)

Can’t wait for CTV to go bankrupt.

As the Emergencies Act Inquiry unfolds, will the honorable liberal judge do the right thing and call Trudeau out? P.S. Highly Unlikely

🙄🙄

Why don’t you read his tweet? They paid three months or something like that which was 50% more than what was required. Stop trying to vilify him.

Defund the Leftist CTV

🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷Brazil is a beautiful country with people strong and faithful!! If you believe that Brazilians will overcome this hard situation in their country with a dictatorship of judiciary, please like below!!👇👇

Based on your own last quarterly report CTV will be having their own layoffs soon enough.

Looks like Twitter wants to be a viable alternative to you, the MSM and their bias! You are just press release readers! Jounalism is dead!

Why would they? Did you also know that twitter internally was hijacking’s accounts, and holding their verification for ransom and upwards of 15k US? Facts! All coming out.

The simple answer: No

Give me a break. Here's your severance, adios!

LOL

he doesn't care about laws...

They're really upset their echo chamber is being dismantled.

3 months severance + benefits and perks.. Seems to satisfy the law..

What do you care?

Considering they're all getting paid til beginning of February No

Free speech is being restored on Twitter and you make a fuss about it. Interesting.

I'm sure he has a way and good for him.

Twitter was losing $4Million a day... So easy to justify a cut in employees when the company is posting a loss... Nice try at swaying the sentiment CTV.

No. The answer is no. First TDS, now Musk Derangement Syndrome.

'U.S. law' doesn't really apply to the super-rich.

Let’s ask cupe :)

It’s a private company now.. The left and the media can’t handle their truths only belong to them… media TwitterLayoffs Twitter

I doubt it.

The head office will b in space, and no land laws will b applicable.

What?! Lol
