Musk had defended the decision to fire half of the company, arguing it was a necessary move “when the company is losing over $4M/day.” He also claimed each employee who was fired would receive three months severance, though it is unclear if an employee would have to return that money if they are asked to return.

Oldharley1947 Some years ago a major pharmaceutical company got a new CEO who roared in with two lists of employees - the ones to be retained and the ones to be fired. The purge squad gleefully carried out its orders … but fired the wrong list. Apologies & incentives didn’t undo the damage.
This could be some exaggeration here though. It could just be some hiring position with lower salaries out there in market tho, who knows.
