That money’s gone to good use. In addition to employing about 1,300 people at its stores, Goodwill in 2021 ran after-school programs for more than 12,500 at-risk students across eight high schools. Additionally, the adult-services programs that Goodwill runs out of its 16.5-acre San Jose campus range from preparing people on the autism spectrum for potential jobs to training young people who have disabilities with independent-living skills to working with recently incarcerated people on re-entering the community.
