The Association for New Canadians presented its IDEA Awards on Thursday Nov. 17. UnsplashST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Association for New Canadians has recognized six people and one business with IDEA Awards for commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and anti-racism.

Zuairia Kamal was recognized with the Anti-Racism and Inclusivity Youth Award for her commitment to community outreach and helping local people connect with newcomers. Gerald Albert Barnes and Krista Barnes shared the Community Hero Award for their hard work in Corner Brook, creating a welcoming home for newcomers.
