as the labor market continued to expand, a sign the economy remains strong despite high inflation and rising interest rates.

Total nonfarm employment statewide topped 13.6 million in October, the 12th consecutive month that Texas has set a record high for that metric. Mining and logging, which includes the oil and gas industry, continued to post strong growth with 3,300 net hires. That equates to a monthly gain of 1.5%, far above the 0.4% increase for all jobs and easily the best-performing sector last month.

With more home buyers facing affordability challenges, homebuilders are tapping the brakes. The number of Dallas-Fort Worthfrom third-quarter 2021, according to a report from Dallas-based housing analyst Residential Strategies.
