Nearly 400 business, government and community leaders came together Thursday night to celebrate the best of the Burnaby business community at the 23rd annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards.
The awards are a joint initiative of the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade , with the aim of celebrating success stories and innovations in the city business community. Five awards are presented recognizing excellence in corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, workplace culture, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as four overall awards celebrating the top non-profit, businessperson, small business and large business of the year.
“Hosting the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards in partnership with the City of Burnaby is an honour.,” said Paul Holden, BBOT president and CEO. “Burnaby is an extraordinary, diverse and innovative business, and we are so proud to represent and celebrate these businesses and entrepreneurs. “Congratulations to all of the remarkable finalists in each of our award categories – each of you has made contributions and efforts this year that are worth celebrating.”
The evening also celebrated this year’s Burnaby Business Hall of Fame inductee, Pacific Blue Cross. The Hall of Fame induction is a special honour bestowed jointly by the BBOT and the City of Burnaby each year to a widely-recognized, Burnaby-based business that has demonstrated outstanding business success over many years and has had a positive and significant impact on the community.
