Queensland Resources Council CEO Ian MacFarlane says he has never seen a “tax lower the cost of energy” and the proposal to put a tax on the energy industry like gas “will simply push the price up”.

“But that is not the biggest problem, the biggest problem is it will drive away future investment,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith. “Whatever energy plan you look at and whatever transition to renewable plan you look at … we need more gas generation not less in 2035.”
