Gasoline prices continued their decline throughout the Bay Area last week, with the average cost of a gallon of gas falling 18.5 cents in San Jose — a 61.9-cent drop from the month before, according to theThe average cost for a gallon of gas in Jose now is $5.23 a gallon, the latest price analysis released Monday said. According to GasBuddy's review of local gas prices, the cheapest station in San Jose had its gas priced at $4.59 a gallon while the most expensive gasoline costs $6.
Compared with San Francisco, Oakland and Salinas, San Jose has on average the second cheapest gasoline in the Greater Bay Area. De Haan said to expect"even more substantial declines on the way as oil prices plummeted last week to briefly trade under $80 per barrel." He also made a big prediction, saying that"it's not impossible" to see a national average of $2.99 for a gallon of gasoline around Christmas.
