Longtime local contractor's new company underway on apartment project

A long-time Jacksonville contractor has struck out on his own, with his new company's first project underway near Jacksonville International Airport.

Fansler Construction is underway on The Note apartments, a 290-unit complex on Hyatt Road off Max Leggett Parkway. The company is led by Jason Fansler, a Jacksonville resident with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. That includes stints at Elkins Construction, LandSouth Construction and Island Mechanical Contractor, where he held a variety of executive posts. Just over a decade ago, Fansler was president of Greenleaf Construction, in Fernandina Beach.

The company he started will serve as general contractor on the $49.6 million project, which will have three four-story buildings containing one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The Note is being developed by Chance Partners, the company behind projects such as The Jack on Beach,
