Nationally, the price for gasoline is now $3.52, on average, for a gallon. In San Jose, the average cost for a gallon is $4.96 — a 27.1-cent drop from the week before.

Bay Area gas prices continued their steady decline with the average cost of gas dropping by 27.1 cents in San Jose last week — 65.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago,The average cost per gallon in San Jose is now $4.96 as of Monday, with the cheapest gas station in the area being priced at $4.35 a gallon, and the most expensive at $5.99 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's review of local gas prices.

Oakland had the cheapest gasoline in the Bay Area with an average of $4.92 per gallon, down 25 cents from last week.Salinas had the most expensive gasoline in the region at $5.16 per gallon, down 21.3 cents.
