Christian Pulisic has dominated headlines across the country since the World Cup’s start, and he made more news Friday when the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team announced that he should be good to go for Saturday’s 10 a.m. game against the Netherlands.
That’s good news for the home team — provided you are reading this and are a native of the United States — heading into the round-of-16 game. Pulisic’s status was in some doubt after he suffered a pelvic contusion in Tuesday’s win over Iran. But Pulisic will play and have a chance to add another chapter to what has been a pretty, spectacular story for the 24-year-old Hershey native.
And, if the reports are true, that is likely setting up the young star, nicely, for the rest of his life. Because, while soccer may not have the same sort of audience in the United States that the NFL, NBA or MLB does, it has a major worldwide following. And that means the game’s best can pull in some big-time bucks.
