Heading into the holiday season, Minteta San Jose International Airport is easily having its best year since the outbreak of Covid-19.About 1.08 million passengers flew into or out of Silicon Valley's primary airport, also known as SJC, in October, according to data released by the airport Friday. That was up 32% from the number that flew through the facility in the same month last year and marked the sixth straight month that passenger traffic topped 1 million.
Through the first 10 months of this year, 9.4 million passengers have flown into or out of SJC. That's up a whopping 64% up from the same period in 2021. SJC's cargo operations are up this year also, if not as dramatically. Some 6.7 million pounds of freight or cargo passed through the airport in October, up 8% from the same month last year. The facility handled 60.4 million pounds of cargo in the first 10 months, up 1% from the same period in 2021.
