What matters is the quality of the work you do over the quantity of hours you put in.

I recently started a new job in a position and an industry I have never worked in before. One thing that matters most to me is the work culture. Here, working extra hours and on weekends is regarded as normal for an employee who wants to show commitment to the company and step up the corporate ladder more quickly. How can I set boundaries in this environment while also growing my career?

When your work is defined by the impact you make, not the output, it frees you from worrying too much about the optics or the hours you are “seen” putting in. Instead, focus on performing at 100% when you show up. You can progress based on your merit.Have a candid conversation with your manager to determine what value you can add and where.

In these meetings, be open to giving and receiving feedback. It indicates you are fully tuned in to what’s happening in the business and will also help you to stay on track. Once again, keep in mind, it’s about maximizing your impact, not showcasing how many hours you’re at your desk. Let quality output do the talking.

This is a Hong Kong style. If you work overtime means that you are a good employee. Albeit, if you don’t, you would not deserve a raise or promotion.

Some just want to be paid for their work&don't want to work for free.We believe in charity and we have done that for years. However,we believe if the project is not to serve any purpose but to gain profits then individuals should be paid based on their knowledge and experience.

I want my work life balance, and I want my promotion. No one who wants to put in the overtime and sacrifices should be allowed to do and be promoted ahead of me.

Life is too short. Just leave.

Quantity is miniscule. It's about the molecules. Done people don't need piles of data. They need piles of supported data. and a bit of respect.
