The Competition Commission recently embarked on a two-day road show in two provinces to raise awareness about the recently introduced guidelines for competition in the South African automotive aftermarket industry.

As part of the roadshow, the Competition Commission's advocacy team met with independent service providers and representatives of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation in Boksburg. Seen during the event, held at Charlies Diesel Centre on North Rand Road, Hughes, are Slodge Slevana , Raymond George , Busisiwe Masina , Rudolph Schoeman , Letitia Kgwadi , Cheryl Tamagnone and Jacques Gericke .

That means, under the new guidelines, vehicle manufacturers would not be allowed to void warranties if vehicle owners choose to take their vehicles to an independent service provider. According to the commission, the latest roadshow follows the receipt of several complaints regarding practices perceived as unfair in the automotive aftermarket sector.
