Industry Minister Ed Husic says gas companies needed to recognise their prices were “unsustainable” and the government had a “responsibility to step in” and change them.

“They made investments when gas prices were way lower, and they were making profits when gas prices were way lower,” Mr Husic told Sky News Australia.

“We have seen an extraordinary jump in gas prices that are putting pressure on other parts of the economy, so that is why you have seen in the last few days manufacturers welcome what we are doing.”

Energy industry ‘jumping at shadows’ over price cap billAssistant Minister for Trade and Manufacturing Tim Ayres says the industry is “jumping at shadows” over the energy price cap bill. “These measures deal with a price cap that’s temporary and sensible for a very small proportion of the gas producers’ overall production,” Mr Ayres said. “A decade of policy inertia, inaction, and uncertainty … that uncertainty has had an impact on investment decisions and made Australians more reliant upon these prices, more reliant upon particular sources of energy. “The country’s been held back for a decade.”

Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic has appointed a National Robotics Strategy Advisory Committee. “Robots require power, so the more robots we have, the more energy we’re going to need to power them,” Mr Macpherson told Sky News host Rowan Dean. “It’s a great idea, but there’s a few things the government need to get in order first if they’re to promote this.” Amongst other things in my work pipeline I'll be training machine learning algorithms to run in robot microprocessors to pick fruit at peak ripeness and i shall donate the intellectual property 100% free of charge to farmers - open source software is coming to take your job soon. I guess the robots would also be the one buying their products my friends.
