Soccer Laduma has been following the story regarding Chiefs' pursuit of SuperSport United defender Luke Fleurs very closely, dating back to last season. After lurking behind the scenes, Amakhosi eventually formally approached SuperSport for services of Fleurs but their proposal was a swap deal that would see Cole Alexander moving in the opposite direction.

"Luke is the reigning Young Player of the Season and was part of the U23 team at the Olympics in Tokyo. His stock went up and there's a general feeling Chiefs should have done better with their initial offer - that's if they were serious," the source added. The Soweto giants initially showed interest in signing Stellenbosch young centre-back Athenkosi Mcaba, who has already been capped by Bafana Bafana at the age of 20, in the previous transfer window.
