The Truro Industrial Business Society has put forth a recommendation for the extension of Industrial Avenue to expand the Truro Business Park. - Chelsey GouldTRURO, N.S. — A proposal to extend a road and develop six new lots in the Truro Business Park is going to be considered during budget deliberations in the new year.
“I expect based on location and reputation for our industrial business park, I think we can recoup some of that money quite quickly once we have things in place,” said Mayor Bill Mills. “It's not going to be all done at once, but it will be done in such a way, phased in, and hopefully opportunities will present themselves as a result.”
“We're certainly not asking for it to be approved,” said Coun. Jim Flemming, who is a part of TIDS. “We know with all the pressures that we have, financials for other things going on, that it's not going to be approved in total. We just want to have a start.” In the Truro Business Park, there are over 70 tenants from a variety of industry sectors. Just a three-acre property and a five-acre property with minimal frontage on Blakeney Drive are, and the town also has smaller remnant properties on Willow Street. There is a small percentage of privately owned undeveloped land.
