As Southwest's cancellations hit Jax airport, here's the local outlook

Southwest Airlines Co. has canceled thousands of flights this week across the nation, and Jacksonville International is no exception. Over the holiday weekend, JIA has seen dozens of cancellations with no end in sight., which tracks flight cancellations, Southwest cancelled more than 2,900 flights nationally on Monday — representing about 71% of its flight operations — citing complications from the winter storm and staffing challenges.

In a statement, Southwest called the impacts on its operations unacceptable and said it would continue operating a reduced schedule by flying roughly one-third of its schedule for the next several days.
