Steel needs to be supported not for steel's sake but for all the industries you will only have in the country because you have steel. Its a feeder industry for the entire manufacturing supply chain. If you don't have a steel industry then you will not have manufacturing.

👍👍👍👍👍 but if we stayed in the EU that would be illegal hhhmmm!!!

But he won't rescue the NHS?

Here is a thought..... Buy the steel from the British companies. Then resell it on the open market. The company gets paid and the Government gets repaid.

This is now the anti free market communist-ervative party

One of the lessons of recent years is we need to re-shore some key strategic industries in case of breakdowns in international supply chains e.g. medicine, food, PPE, etc. Steel falls into this category, if private companies cannot run steel profitably gov should nationalise.

“Jeremy Hunt considers taxpayer rescue of British Steel blast furnaces” Help save jobs, so this must be carefully considered But what happened to the staunch Tory mantra on “laissez-faire” and “free-market economics?” Perhaps they are now eyeing votes?

More Communist policies will get you no where
