There have been calls for Belfast City Council to reject a planning application to convert Common Market into a car park.
He said that previous planning decisions have left parts of the city centre in distress with buildings being "left to rot and crumble", and feels that more needs to be done to ensure that small and independent businesses are able to thrive. It is understood that an updated car parking strategy for Belfast had been delayed by the council due to Covid, however the most recent one carried out in 2018 showed that only 65% of city centre car park spaces were used daily.
This headline is so depressing Add in “chronic graffiti and pavement parking that is out of control” and you’re describing a very sad state of affairs for Belfast
True-Belfast has turned into a shit hole….plain and simple. It actually makes me sad to walk through it these days…..dishevelled and run down.
Who’s proposed this car park ?
What Belfast needs is new railway stations to serve unserved areas and new destinations like County Down, Armagh and Londonderry via Portadown. We need to expand the infrastructure we need, not the infrastructure corporation's want you to think you need. RebuildOurRailways
Who is the Cllr that proposed knocking it down?
Need to rid ourselves of the car-centric policies of the decision makers in this field.
Plenty of parking under the Bridges sitting empty because of the smack heads getting a free run. Cops too busy stopping cars to address the real crimes. Geet that whole area tidied and usable ffs and stop wasting our money to raise funds for lazy bastard councils and police!!!
