The San Francisco Bay Area tech company paying software engineers the best is Google, with a pay range of $174,000 to $276,000 for Android or Google Cloud engineers. Social media, self-driving software and corporate productivity companies are also high payers. San Francisco’s Pinterest comes up next with software engineers getting paid up to $259,000. Reddit, headquartered in San Francisco, comes next with a base pay as high as $256,000.

The companies that are currently hiring and pay entry-level workers the best — meaning that they require two years of experience or less — are Apple and Niantic.
