that refunds were backlogged, asking customers to allow more than a month for a response.
But Delta this week denied the existence of a backlog in refund requests. In a statement to ABC, the airline said, "As always, we will provide refunds to eligible requesting customers who elect not to travel as the result of a significant delay or cancellation and seek to do so in a timely fashion." Although the tweets were sent from the Delta Twitter account and remain posted, it’s unclear if there are delays in customers receiving refunds.
Last year, DOT levied more than $7.25 million in fines against six airlines, including U.S. carrier Frontier, for not providing prompt refunds. The department has said it would hold all airlines accountable "if there is evidence that they are failing to meet their refund or reimbursement obligations."
With all the screw ups government causes to our airlines industry the FAAs reaction is to put a boot on the throat of the industry to pay up for likely govt created delays. Genius.
Thousands can say goodbye to their money.
Shut up mayor Pete
Delta is not months behind in refunds. Took less than 4 weeks for my flight to be refunded. Good job Delta
Delta did it.
They should deduct funding for Dept. of Transportation to pay for this and hopefully force incompetent people in that department to be weeded out when faced with lower budgets and harder work. The way everything else operates and evolves. CutTheDOTFunding CompetentGOV
Blacks have been waiting decades for reparations; I’m pretty sure travelers can wait a few months for their refunds. They’ll be alright. And even if they’re not - “…frankly, my dear…” 🤷🏾♀️ (shrug).
Sounds like thieving to me!
