Residents are fighting the city’s controversial sale of 68 acres off White Pond Drive to a developer who wants to build a $55 million housing and retail project.

Community members who attended Akron City Council's meeting Dec. 12 to protest the sale of land for the proposed White Pond development were not allowed to speak at the meeting and were later escorted from the chambers by Akron Police. AKRON, Ohio –

Homeowners near the site and a group, LEAD for Pollinators, filed a lawsuit in Summit County Common Pleas Court this week that says Akron City Council violated the city’s charter when it voted to approve the sale last month to Triton Property Ventures.
