Stallholders and customers are devastated as the operator blames the closure on a resource shortage and rising costs.

Founder Miranda Sharp said the market had been hit by a shortage of resources and rising costs.Abbotsford Farmers Market is shutting down after 20 years, leaving stallholders and customers of the inner-north Melbourne event devastated.

“It has been a very sad but perfect storm for a lot of reasons,” she said. “I think there is just an exhaustion factor, and with the cost of living, people have just bunkered down a little.” “The decision to close one of our markets, after such a long-standing relationship, has been one of the most difficult in our 20-year history,” the post said. “We like many businesses have had a very challenging three years and we are currently experiencing a significant shortage of resources along with increasing costs.”Stallholder James Hill of Gippsland Free Range Eggs said stallholders found out about the closure this month.
