A Dallas-based biotech company is looking to bring back the woolly mammoth along with the dodo and Tasmanian wolf.

, the company was able to put an estimated return time for the mammoth — 2027 — thanks to an additional $60 million in funding it received last year for the gene-editing work behind the project.

The newest member of this de-extinction list along with the woolly mammoth and the Tasmanian wolf — as announced by the company via press release this past Tuesday — is what Colossal CEO and co-founder, Ben Lamm, calls “a symbol of man-made extinction,” the dodo.
