I make mental notes of the places the throw those tip options screens in my face as places to avoid. I don't know if its from owners trying to get around paying their employees well, or an employee initiative. But, the net result is my business will go elsewhere.
I usually tip the amount I would pay my kids when they bring me my food at home.
It’s not my responsibility to pay the wage for someone else because they chose some shit, entry level job & refuse to better themselves
Tipping needs to go. You’re allowing businesses to make money, as you’re paying their employees for them. Ridiculous
What are the qualifications required to become 'An etiquette expert'? 1) White 2) Graduate of some useless subject from some junk American university. 3) Hater of minorities. 4) All the above
If people were paid decent wages, tipping would be unnecessary.
I defend my country from foreign nations everyday. How do I get a tip. Starting at $15 am hour these workers make more than I did starting out.
Yes… CNN is 🗑️. Never take life advice from CNN
The ONLY type of authority you should take advice from is someone who is or was in rest/bar business. If you get prompt, friendly service & don't have to ask for anything, you tip. Opposite of that,no. Single beer out of a cooler,no. Poured/mixed drinks yes.
tipping is just a trick to transfer the labor conflict from employers and employees to consumers and employees.🤫
I’m gonna cut back on tipping, service post pandemic has been subpar
Not at all. I even ask the cashier how to select no tip.
Demand for tipping is out of control. they expect 25% now, before providing service. That’s tax, not tip.
I'll tip half upfront and the other half after the expected transaction has been completed.
you should tip me more because i am working at the cashiers and you are enjoying the coffee that i, erm.....the coffee machine made.
Used cars maybe getting cheaper, but you for got to say people still can't afford them because interest rates are a lot higher. From Biden's inflation.
I can't eat gold and I can't take it with me when I die so it holds absolutely no value to me, just saying....
NO. Tip is a token of appreciation as to the quality of service provided. That determination comes solely from the customer not the establishment.
Yes you should.
Its not cheap here in Nigeria 🇳🇬
The only reason this got back to “normal” is because the feds played with the economy
Shouldn’t employers/ business owers pay staff for their job? Don’t understand tipping culture at all
Only republicans don't leave tips, and it's should be a charge for these certain individuals..hint (they storm the capitol building) when they use restroom and walk out without washing their hands..see it airport and restaurants ALOT..that's so disgusting..pee pee hands ain't cool
Tipping is a culture shock for me, I think it's should be discretionary and should not be 'solicited' the way the billing and checkout systems in the US do. You could also feel some sense of entitlement from some waiters sometimes. Do the tips go 100% to the staff? Taxed?
Slaves used to work in exchange for food and shelter. They had no debts. If your paycheck goes to rent and food we’ll guess what. You and a slave are similar they just made it so you “seem free” hahaha
People are still eating out? I stopped when inflation took off.
Never...one is already paying for the Service
Noobs. I use a restaurant in my area and they have a tip cup. They don't ask for tips when using the machine. They still get tips from cash purposes. Why are so many greedy?
Server don't make livable wages their tips is really needed so tip.
25% is not 'leaving your extra change'
I pay top dollar to travel to USA, stay at best hotels & eat at restaurants & sightsee etc! WTF should I have to pay someone’s wages as well! Hotels etc make a fortune & guests are expected to tip! Hell no! Not my responsibility to top up wages with tips!
Who cares what an etiquette expert says. Not one person should be entitled to a tip ‘just because’. Restaurants should pay staff, and post signs, “No tipped allowed.” No customer should be expected to or be required to pay staff wages. Disgusting. Asia & Europe have it right.
Why can't companies just pay workers a fair wage. Damn, America.
I'm waiting for CNN to weigh in on America's favorite shoe size.
The Industry needs to pay a living wage, employers are paying a wage based on tips and take a share of them.
In Canada we just brought the pay scale up to $15 an hour like everyone else. There’s some discussion that the tips should be shared with all staff now since they make the same amount. One restaurant eliminated tipping and just charges enough to pay all staff $18/hour.
