Nintendo has said it’s not planning to introduce Switch hardware or software price cuts as its console business enters “uncharted territory”. Instead, it plans to grow Switch's 122 million installed base with “both new and classic titles”

Nintendo could also choose to expand its Virtual Console service by bringing more libraries of classic games from previous consoles to Switch.

“We also believe that continuing the life cycle of the Nintendo Switch will lead to opportunities for additional software to be played by consumers,” Furukawa said. “For example, during last December, Nintendo Switch total consumers hit a record high, and many continue to play Nintendo Switch. “Therefore, it is integral to show the appeal of the Nintendo Switch through future software proposals to customers who are considering purchasing new hardware, replacement hardware, or additional hardware.”

Nintendo has previously said that a significant number of households own more than one Switch console. During its fiscal year ended in March 2021, around 20 percent of the 28.8 million Switch consoles sold were bought by households that already owned one. Furukawa told investors this week: “Regarding the Nintendo Switch [pricing strategy], we have done our best to maintain both its value and price of hardware and software in our long term business strategy. We do not believe that any changes to this policy are necessary at this stage.”

People really need to stop buying that bs trash console already. Nintendo is going crazy.

No point in keeping my switch anymore. Trying to charge PS and Xbox quality when it's got bad hardware in 2023.

I'm amazed they haven't sorted the Player's Choice range yet! Even pre 2018 titles would be a start and they would be over 5yrs old!

It's only in business coz of it's exclusive games lmao

So rather than innovate? they just plan on leaning on past achievements? I guess that's one strategy?

I swear the old dudes in Japan are drinking some strange brew if they think the Switch is lasting another year…

This shit is hilarious Nintendo finessing their fans 🤣 no new console so stuck with ps3/360 graphics let's not forget that recently Nintendo games have been dropping that barely work and they're raising their game prices to $70? Shit wild

So Nintendo being Nintendo?

Nintendos idea of 'uncharted territory'

NateTheHate2 looks like they’re confident in hitting their hardware targets with no price cuts? maybe this year will have influential software or they just expect to come out of covid years and maintain sales

Sure sure 🤣

NintyPrime thoughts on this article?

I’m so desperate for an upgrade😔

Nintendo being Nintendo 😭

I'm out ✌️

Hmmm don’t know about this

Road to beat PS2 sales has just begun.

The switch needs a desperate hardware upgrade tho....

Please Ghost Recon Wildlands for Nintendo Switch. Ubisoft Nintendo GhostRecon

Shame. Would´ve liked the return of the Nintendo Selects line.

So it's at the end of its life like 3ds

so people claims that nintendo sold 122 millions , but nintendo is aiming to sell 122 millions , people should stop twisting words just to make other companies looks like failling

Why would they? They have no competition they can do what they want and people pay for it.

If even the steam deck can emulate your hardware so that your titles run on 60 fps rather then 30 fps it might be time to release new switch.

Let's goooooo Nintendo

They will eventually willneed new hardware.. they will rely on their first party games.. developers wont keep making games

Disaster. The switch was old and slow 5 years ago

Promises promises 🤔

Ahh cool, that means the new console is around the corner. They always lie like this when they want one more year of sales off dead hardware.

Switch might sell more than the Wii by 2025…If Nintendo don’t come out with another console or hybrid by then…

They're out of their damn minds Kirby and the Forgotten Land a first party title had frame rates that looked like a flipbook at times.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess sequel PLEASE!!! I beg you 😭❤️‍🔥

And by “…uncharted territory” they mean ‘the same exact thing that happens with all Nintendo machines’. They go down hard. 😮‍💨 Even the NES was tired AF by the time SNES came out. 🙄 N64, GameCube, Wii all had fast deaths. Barbie games mark the end of a systems life. 🤭

DirectFeedGames 'Both new and classic titles' huh... Nate, I feel it might be time

Probably a number of remasters coming soon? That’s what the classic titles says to me, plus a lot of rumors, fans want them, and the 3DS got a lot later in its life

Ergo:not this year but within the next 2 as our console is slowly dying but we won’t replace it till it’s nearly dead in sales

And the ‘New’ part of “…new and classic…” is just new remakes of classic games. 🤦‍♂️ Let’s be fr.

My roommate joked this morning that Zelda is about to come out, so that means they’re going to announce S witch2 and delay Zelda. 🤣

What comes out first GTA VI or Switch 2?

SpawnWaveMedia

It passed the PS4 it total units. Nintendo on its own league right now

Makes sense…they are the only ones that can do this so why wouldn’t they😂

At this point even their games will have to be streamed because wtf is this ?

JAAY_ROCK_ nintendo Switch will become the best-selling console in history by far congratulations to Nintendo the parents of gaming.

I have a theory and it is that nintendo wants to dethrone the PS2 as the best selling console in history and take that position. That's the only thing I can think of to justify this idiocy

Nintendo switch will outsell PS2

Uncharted Territory? Theories?

babano22 “Regarding the Nintendo Switch [pricing strategy], we have done our best to maintain both its value and price of hardware and software in our long term business strategy. We do not believe that any changes to this policy are necessary at this stage.” So no software price increase

babano22 This is not good

Looks like they are doing price increases on their games though.

'it plans to grow switch installed base' Switch 2 is happening in 2025 at best isn't it

Graphically and performance wise it's a toaster at this point.

Nintendo wants to sell 1 billion units of the Switch LMFAO

Glad I didn't get a Switch. Would've been a bad investment for me. Nintendo hasn't impressed me since SNES.

Fk the switch

Boooo

Yay can't wait for switch pro in 2030 with 4k60 fps 🙄

….And increase their game prices to $70🫠🫠🫠

God I wish Nintendo would go multiplatform..can you imagine how crazy that would be. Buy and play Zelda on Xbox,PlayStation,PC,Steamdeck +++ Play great Nintendo games with more modern visuals and performance...it would be fantastic.

Aka we eating over here . Nintendo Switch until 2040 😂
