You order a sandwich, a coffee and a marijuana cigarette, then settle in for a musical performance. This could become the future under a bill aimed at changing the landscape of cannabis use in California.
Haney’s bill would also allow cannabis cafes to host live performances and sell tickets to the events. Although the experience is great for the customers, Fontein said, the proceeds go to the restaurant, not her business. “I’ve had a location next door to my dispensary for four years waiting for consumption lounges to be legal in Los Angeles,” said Jerrod Kiloh, who has owned a dispensary called the Higher Path in Sherman Oaks for 10 years.
Even if the state allows lounges to operate more like restaurants or cafes, that’s just one small piece of the puzzle for the legal weed industry. Byers, a cannabis user, said the bill could transform retailers from antiseptic, pharmacy-like locations into community spaces.
The Cannabis industry is suffering due to massive state and local taxes. As usual it’s all about the single party state making billions on the hard efforts of entrepreneurs.😉
Lower the tax rate on cannabis. And diversify licenses. There solved the issue.
Seems good. Make a killing off the munchies.
decay agenda
Well, le duh. Need a Taco Bell next door.
Typical of the state to duck the real issue that’s hurting cannabis retailers..over taxing!!
This is important. It's what you would expect from CA politicians. 🤡
It will all go up in smoke🤦♂️
Smoke-filled rooms: never a great idea.
Tell them to stop selling subpar weed at a ridiculous amount. Never should I pay 60 for an 1/8th especially when it’s legal. Before then it was 10 dollars a gram for better tree. The cafe is just going to look like a joke.
Shut down the illegal dispensaries and growers.
Good idea.
There is a cannabis culture and a safe spot to indulge is smart, could be profitable.
Maybe they just got too greedy with the tax revenues? The cost of products in californias legal market often borders on obscene
California needs to be more like Colorado when it comes to the cannabis industry. It's sad that California can't get it together.
It's struggling from all the imposed taxes. The State effed it up. The underground market is strong because few can afford going to a dispensary
Suggestion: Stop the over taxation of cannabis and the collusion/price fixing from the growers alliance who crashed the market in the first place. stupidity
Maybe don't tax it as much?
CA government fails at everything it touches.
Remove the bullshit taxes. Greed weed profiteers State tax, local tax, special tax a $10 deal ends up being almost a $20 regular priced deal. Prop 215 to good old days.
How about maybe not the insane level of taxes on the industry?
Finally they're getting it
Struggling marijuana industry? 😂
