Blue Jays starter Alek Manoah driven to attack unfinished business Via longleysunsport

Manoah said in an interview in the Blue Jays clubhouse here on Monday as spring training unofficially got underway. “I think I had one start last year when I gave up five runs and then in a playoff game I give up four? That’s going to eat me up.”

“I went and laid on a beach somewhere and just kind of got away from everything. Give the body some time to rest and recover and reflect on it. A lot of the positives we had last year and some of the negatives.” “For me, being able to do that and reflect at the end of the year and come up with a good plan has been great. It’s having an understanding that it’s a longer year and you don’t need to get there too early.”

As for the specifics of improvement for what will be his third full season in the big leagues, Manoah said his focus will be on his precision. His 15 hit batters in 2022 were the most in the American League, a number that has to come down without rescinding much of his renowned aggression.
