and Acting Police Chief Darren Allison made the announcement at a news conference at the Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square.
Allison said, "Starting next week, you will see a return of our walking officers to our neighborhood and business shopping districts."
They need to walk around the Rockridge plaza. That place is unsafe!!!!
You walk and bike the commercial districts during the day and use cars at night to patrol the commercial districts from burglaries and vandals. There are targeted ways to better use police resources. Also have more resources during higher crime times of the day.
They need to also incorporate bike patrols for more mobility within the commercial districts. It’s all about integrating the officers into the daily fabric of the city. You can’t just be in a car all day clearing calls and not being proactive. Not sure about only working 9 to 5.
This is what’s been missing in our cities!
about time!
I like foot patrol returning to the streets of Oakland to better serve the community. But this needs more police and training. The city needs to support OPD. It takes teamwork to protect a community.
Cops on the beat

Defund the police advocates will use them as targets
I guess we are done with that other failed experiment
Now do San Francisco.
