An Ontario pharmacy owner claims veterinary drug distributors are restricting the supply of medication, which she believes is costing owners more money to treat their pets.

amended its regulations to limit vets from supplying pharmacists with drugs for resale, she says.

Robinson added that only in emergency cases of low supply can a veterinarian provide a drug to another veterinarian or pharmacist. “Veterinarians are doctors. Their role is to prescribe and dispense for animals in their care. Their job isn’t about resale of drugs,” Robinson said. “They buy drugs [only] to be able to prescribe and dispense for animals within their care.”

Chui claims that this potential “conflict of interest” is being overlooked by the CVO, and she believes that pet owners could be paying more as a result. Chui’s claims that her online pharmacy markups are significantly lower than those charged by vets to dispense, averaging 40 per cent less, and ranging from 20 per cent to 97 per cent in pricing differences.

No sh crap

Surprise… not. Corporate greed is so common it’s ridiculous. Competition and generic licensing after a certain crime might help. Unfortunately as in most industries the competition is owned by same bigger corporation owning the competition

A captured money situation

As an animal lover of 4sets of Paws🐾 I am going to look into changing these regulations across the provinces including federal intervention if necessary as I personally have gone thru the horrors of trying to obtain moderate drugs such as Prednisone without a Prescription in AB

Most likely true.

All pharmaceutical companies pray on our misery. Pay up or die. Dogs, cats, humans, all the same

Like big pharma

No kidding

Duh, it's unregulated. Greed rules.

$5000 for a MRI for dogs $1000 for humans 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why do people value money so much 😂 I live comfortably on welfare
