It's unknown what chemicals will be brought down and when. But the news has sparked concerns, especially about the possibility of another crash during the more than 1,300 mile trek.

Deer Park-area residents are concerned after learning the remnants of the chemicals spilled from the Ohio train derailment will be stored and disposed in the area.As clean up continues from the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, a private company in the Houston area has agreed to store and dispose the toxic liquids.

Several of the train cars that crashed were carrying vinyl chloride, which erupted into a massive blaze, ABC News reported. The private company specializes in deep well injection, which allows them to inject the hazardous waste thousands of feet into the ground for disposal. Guillen said the risk lies in the transport of the chemicals for more than 1,300 miles from East Palestine to Deer Park.Video of Ohio train derailment shows wheel bearing in 'final stage of overheat failure,' NTSB says

TCEQ:it’s not uncommon for waste from out of state to be brought to Texas for disposal. In 2022, about 105,399 tons of toxic waste were brought from other states to permitted facilities in Texas.Permitted facilities are not required to notify they receive waste from out-of-state

MILLIONS of pounds of Haz Waste comes into Harris County annually. NOW Hildago etc are pretending to care. Wake up people - this is an attempt to deflect and cover for incompetent handling of the event in Ohio and use for pandering for votes later. LinaHidalgoTX HarrisCoJudge

You telling me nobody has the capability to take the waste near Ohio?

Yes let’s take toxic waste from a small rural town 1300 miles away and bring it to Houston and pump it under ground in a metropolitan area of 8 million people. Sounds super smart!

Keep busing illegal aliens north, and we'll keep shipping toxic_wastewater to Texas. You're welcome GovAbbott

Just what Houston needs, to store some toxic liquids for somebody else…

Why do we have to store those carcinogens in the Houston area? A major hurricane and we will have that crap everywhere!!! Somebody needs to get fired or voted out!!!!

Thanks trump for removing those pesky brake upgrades for hazardous cargo trains.

WHY? Make the railroad ceo put in his yard

GovAbbott this needs to be stopped

All of these companies are so called regulated by TCEQ who is terrible and never checks anything to make sure rules r followed! The company claims there will be minimal risk..there should be NO RISK! Deer Park residents should be highly upset right now!

The chemicals that spilled and were set ablaze, spread over a very large area, as the cloud flew away a long distance, those particles were the residue of the chemical which in this case are more micro and hard to clean, but just if not more dangerous, we cry about Asbestos.

How much is Lina Hildago getting from this? $$$$$$

This seems like a spectacular idea where nothing could go wrong.

WTH…. Ship that shit to DC!!!!
