Dozens of frustrated business owners are renewing calls for more police resources to combat an increase in youth crime in Queensland's Wide Bay-Burnett region.

"I do want to highlight that a lot of our repeat juvenile offenders are a small number of people committing extremely serious and violent offences," he said.According to the QPS statistics, more than 400 juveniles were reported for assault offences in the Wide Bay-Burnett in 2022. For another Hervey Bay business owner, Chris Bye, not much has changed in the past six months since he"I have very nearly given up on it … it just falls on deaf ears," he said."Every time, the insurance has gone up, the premiums have gone up. I've been left with damage, and I haven't been able to trade," he said.Chris Bye had to board up his shopfront after a brick was thrown through his window in 2022.

I consider there is a good case for compulsory military service for these young offenders, before they become hardened and, a blight on society. Military service would be a better direction than goal terms. Give them a chance to gain some self esteem and purpose in life.

Obviously these kids have nothing to do. If you leave a dog alone in the backyard then eventually it's going to start digging up the garden.

The peasants are revolting. I wonder if this is a generation who have been informed by Trumpism and calls of fake news and greed of the extreme wealthy and corporate profiteering and the lack of integrity that is served up as something to aspire to by Murdoch and the like.

Has anyone thought of lobbying Council to build facilities / activities for young people to do other than vandalise businesses?
