The outlook for commercial real estate looks bumpy in the near term, but a soft landing could still be in the cards.

The outlook for commercial real estate looks"bumpy" in the near term, but CBRE's 2023 forecast predicts a soft landing could still be in the cards.

Over the longer term, CBRE said large investors are targeting real estate and that more certainty for interest rates should be a boon for the industry. "Deal flow will pick up, and by Q3 and Q4 we should see much more robust investment activity," he said. While some property owners have considered converting their real estate to residential, office spaces are more likely to be retrofitted or demolished.
