WA's worker shortage has pushed cafes and restaurants in regional areas to shut up shop completely. But an industry body says there are signs things will get better.

Three food venues have shut in recent months due to staff shortages, including Shannon Lawson's restaurant which closed at the weekend. She said the staffing issues had become untenable.

"They've been struggling in all their departments — they've had staff losses all the way from admin, to housekeeping to front of house and bar. Sad that the ABC is basically wanting wages of young Australians to be crushed via more competition from migration, while they have to put up with higher rents and housing costs, again from said migration. Borderline treasonous.

rubbish article if they dont tell us the outgoing expenses.. like the rent, council fees, insurance , wages, electricity ... australian politicians and councils over the years have become the enemy of most business due to their greed to milk money from buisness.

Is this a subliminal push for mass immigration?

? They could always have chosen to not open one day a week or something. Are we supposed to sympathise because they *made a choice*?

The telling point is where they say that things are improving in areas where the backpackers have come back. In other words, cheap labour. If you want people to work for you then pay a living wage! Greedy business owners.

Was really getting worried that had exhausted all disgruntled CBD café owner angles, but I salute your dedication in tracking down one more in town of 2000 people in regional Western Australia.🫡
