The pace of home building in WA slows to levels not seen since the early days of the pandemic, as Liberal leader Libby Mettam implores the government to do more to assist the sector.

abc.net.au/news/wa-building-sector-in-crisis/102046432The approval of new home builds in Western Australia has slowed to levels not seen since news first broke of the pandemic in 2020, according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The Opposition says the government needs to do more to fix the skills shortageIt comes after one of the state's biggest home builders put a severe limit on new home builds to focus on finishing existing contracts.

"Late last year, we had announced changes to the industry which were well overdue in terms of the size of each insurance claim … we haven't seen that be confirmed yet." "There needs to be more incentives for … international migration of skilled workers. We are seeing international skilled workers bypass Western Australia for other states," she said.

Ms Mettam criticised comments Premier Mark McGowan made yesterday, downplaying the heated construction market as a "better problem than having nothing"."We need the McGowan government to understand that the industry is actually in crisis," Ms Mettam said.

The slow down starts along with the all that have gone bankrupt half them would be back up and running under different name new abn number . Most the assets would of been transferred family prior to going bust .

Money was thrown at them during the pandemic, but the industry never really developed a self-funded training program to glean new workers. The petty halfwits just relied on TAFE to do what they should have been doing all along. Australian builders never invest in the future.
